Virginia Lucas Hart is a calligrapher, illustrator, and designer. She and her husband currently live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, a city she feels very fortunate to call home. Not always a big-city-girl, she spent her childhood in rural West Virginia, carrying her art supplies at all times. She worked in finance for seven years while enrolled in various classes during nights and weekends focusing on letterpress printing, greeting card design, children's book illustrations, and calligraphy. Friends began hiring Virginia for custom projects, and in 2014, she left her job to work for herself as an artist full-time. Virginia has since contributed her lettering and illustrations to people and companies worldwide. Her work has been featured on NBC’s The Today Show, in BRIDES and Flutter magazines, and in several online publications. Virginia teaches modern calligraphy workshops to both adults and children, and as a member of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting, she continues to invest in her own education, still carrying her art supplies through life.
