From the start the Fugue design by Kamal has captivated us by being so unique. That’s why we are completely smitten by this silvery delight. Our silver matte and silver shine foil inks enhance the cascading design and pops of our sea-side letterpress ink add a trendy splash of color.

We fell in love the moment we saw this Gracelyn Vintage (by Jessica Tierney) letterpress wedding invitation suite come off press.  Our friends at The Dandelion Patch in National Harbor, Maryland sent this in.  The couple chose a combination of our navy and watermelon inks, with our copper shine foil – and carried this stunning color palette throughout their set.  With a personalized custom envelope liner making a bold entrance, this wonder is complete! *There was no additional charge to create this envelope liner.

The beautiful combination of black ink & metallic gold edge paint breathe new life into our Natalia (by calligrapher Debi Zeinert) letterpress wedding invitations.  As you can see the program cover and menu’s are just as impressive.  The inner metallic gold dust envelope liner really ties the set together.

This customization of our Royal Night (by Lindsy Aragona) letterpress wedding invitations, sent to us by our friends at Magnificent Milestones, is a thing of beauty!  The mediterranean and charcoal inks really stand out on our 2-ply ivory paper and the sherbet edge painting adds to its allure.  The outer envelope liner really makes the whole set shine brighter!

Our Harp design (by Tara Hogan) is so beautiful it brings music to our ears! These letterpress wedding invitations look so beautiful here in a combination of pewter and pale gray letterpress inks. Adding that touch of color certainly enhances the elegant swirls and gives it a timeless look.

With all of the different elements to consider when ordering your wedding invitations, envelope choices can wind up being somewhat of an afterthought. After all, they’re just going to be ripped open and thrown away anyway, right?  Well, yes – but that doesn’t mean that they’re not important.  They are the first things your guests will see when the invitation set arrives in the mail, after all.

The old standby for envelopes is to have them match the invitations – our standard envelopes are made from a text-weight version of the same cotton paper we print our letterpress invitations on – so the paper and envelopes will be a perfect match. If you’re looking for simplicity and complete uniformity throughout your set, this is definitely the way to go.  There’s absolutely nothing wrong with white or ivory envelopes, by the way!  They’re elegant and are designed to coordinate perfectly with your invites.

That being said, sometimes you don’t necessarily want everything to perfectly match your invitations – sometimes you want the envelopes to have a little pizazz of their own.  And that’s where colored envelopes can fit the bill nicely.
New for 2012, we now offer several different colored envelope options (available in select sizes only for now): bullion, silver, jute, steel blue, and opal. Perhaps you want to add a touch of metallic to your invites (but you don’t want the invitation itself to be foil stamped)? A silver or bullion envelope would be a great option!  Looking to add a crafty, hand-made sort of vibe to your invites?  Try our jute envelopes!  Planning lots of pearlescent touches for the wedding?  Think opal envelopes!

Oh, and the best part? Our colored envelopes are priced exactly the same as our white and ivory envelopes, so they’re definitely more budget-friendly than some other color-adding embellishment options such as pocketfolds or envelope liners. Not that these colored envelopes don’t look awesome with liners too – because they definitely do! We especially love the look of a metallic envelope paired a metallic envelope liner – think metallic bronze envelope liners paired with opal envelopes — it’s a stunning combination!

Last week we showed you a look at some of our new 2012 letterpress invitation designs before and after they were customized, and this week we’re back with more design transformations! We’ve redone 5 of our favorite new modern invitation designs to show you just how much different an invitation can look with a color change, new fonts, and some design adjustments.

Neo Luna by Ian Koenig is charming and simple in the original design, but takes on a bolder look with a font change, added color and silver shine foil stamping.
Suggested embellishments: We think this design would look stunning with surf edge painting and a colorful envelope liner in the sea stripes pattern, printed in surf, marigold and mesa inks.

The Drawing Room design by in-house designer Sarah Walroth features fresh new fonts and a custom pocket-fold, but takes on a more whimsical look after a bit of customizing. We love this design as a square invitation with corner rounding, along with a playful font and fuchsia ink for the names.
Suggested embellishments: A white cotton pocketfold, letterpress printed with prussian blue ink and a blue pearl metallic envelope liner would add the perfect amount of shine to this pretty invitation set.

Ellie Snow designed the Classic Chevron invitation, which features on-trend chevron patterning, two lines of Belle hand calligraphy, and pretty sea-side and jade letterpress inks. The switch of jade ink to mustard and the repositioning of the chevron pattern gives this design customization a retro feel with a modern twist.
Suggested embellishments: A pretty custom postage stamp along with a custom envelope liner featuring the sweet polka pattern in mustard + sea-side inks would be lovely accents for this wedding invitation.
