Bella Figura Real Wedding: Amber + Dave’s Destination Wedding in Mexico

As the days grow colder here in upstate New York, it’s a treat to see such a beautiful destination wedding in Mexico! Don’t the palm trees and cool blue water look so inviting? The couple chose our whimsical String Calligraphy design by Patricia Mumau in all black letterpress with surf edge painting for their wedding invitations. Amber, the beautiful bride, was happy to share some of her inspiration behind the gorgeous event.

Tell us about your wedding and the inspiration behind it:
After dating for 10 years, and collecting friends who have become family over time, we thought it would be a perfect wedding celebration to create a vacation with everyone closest to us. Our plan was to find a beautiful beach destination, with a private resort, and a vibe of relaxation. The Four Seasons Resort in Punta de Mita, Mexico had exactly what we were looking for. Our wedding theme was to capture the natural beauty of the destination, using succulents and bright, bold flowers. Our wedding planner called it a “rustic beach wedding”. We had our groomsmen in simple slacks and sperry topsiders, and our girls in bold fiesta dresses of their choice.

How did you choose your invitation design & ink colors?
The whimsical calligraphy of this invitation was perfect for our laid back vibe, while maintaining the elegance of the venue. While the wedding would take place on the beach in Mexico, we still wanted to keep a formal element of style. The hand painted ocean blue edges were the perfect splash of color.

What surprised you most about your wedding?
I spent the entire morning worrying about the rain for our outdoor reception. The rain ended up starting right when the reception began. Although we had to move everything into the banquet room, the rain was an absolutely gorgeous touch. We shared our first dance outside under the awning with rain pouring down around us. It was magic.

What was your favorite moment?
We had one of our closest, longtime friends officiate the ceremony. It was great to have such a personalized, meaningful ceremony. One of my favorite moments was when he asked us to hold hands and look out at all the faces of the people who were there supporting us. I will never forget how it felt looking out at all 65 guests who had flown all the way to Mexico to be there. It was really special. That…and watching my grandma on the dance floor.

What advice do you have for couples currently planning a wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. I can’t believe how everything just magically comes together.  All that matters in the end is that you are marrying the person you love, with all your friends and family there to celebrate with you.

Congratulations, Amber and Dave! Thank you for sharing your special day with us!
