Whimsical Letterpress Save the Date!
We know we are currently in winter wonderland mode but take a look at this vibrant save the date perfect for a 2012 summer wedding (which is right around the corner)! This quirky custom letterpress save the date was sent to us by our good friends over at Gus & Ruby Letterpress in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The two cute custom designs matched with our aquamarine ink make for a one of a kind save the date that really stands out. Instead of using our standard A6 save the date size, the couple opted for the smaller (and budget saving) A5 option. The recipients of this card are sure to be pleasantly surprised!

Brenna & Larry’s Art Deco Wedding
This next real wedding united two Air Force members, so it seemed only fitting that we feature it on Veterans Day! Overflowing with glamorous details and thoughtful touches that reflect Brenna & Larry’s interests, it’s a celebration filled with timeless style. Brenna designed the stylish yet classic invitations and came to us for printing (we featured her beautiful invites on our blog back in March), and they really set the perfect tone for this 1930′s inspired wedding.
Can you share with us a bit about your wedding and your inspiration for the event?
The wedding was held at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina. I was an art major in college, and my husband studied in Germany for his degree. The hotel is in an artful German hunting lodge style, so that was inspiring in itself. We both have a love for Art Deco style, and 1930′s music and movies.

A special performance by Brenna’s sister (a trained opera singer!) added a lovely personal touch to Brenna & Larry’s ceremony – she sang a solo from Handel’s “Messiah”.
What advice do you have for couples currently planning a wedding?
Pick something inspirational and plan the wedding around it. For us, it was Busby Berkeley Films. All the black and white contrast and lavish sets helped make all the decisions about design quickly. Keep your venue in mind, too, and work with the details therein.
How did you choose your invitation design & ink colors?
I made the design myself, and trusted it to Bella Figura to make it happen in the highest caliber. The rest of the wedding stationery matched the design, so it was easy to continue the theme. I wanted the invitation to show off the good design, so it was a cream and black letterpress; very classic and always in style.
Custom-Curvy Letterpress Wedding Invitations
Little-known fact: We can actually letterpress your own press-ready artwork for no additional charge! All of the artwork for this lovely letterpress invitation set was designed entirely by the groom and then submitted to us for printing. There’s a great interplay of curvilinear patterns going on between the invitation and the two insert cards in this set.

Bali-eve It or Not – Custom Letterpress Wedding Booklets
Letterpress booklets are hands down one of the coolest things we get to work on around here. I mean come on, a personalized letterpress booklet just for your wedding – what could be more awesome than that? Submitted for your approval, is by far one of the nicest ones we’ve been able to work on.
To welcome their guests to a destination wedding in Bali, this couple had us custom design and print ceremony programs and welcome booklets loaded with all kinds of amazing touches. The programs are composed of two double-sided pages (one fits inside the other) with a score line in the middle and hole drilling so that they can be assembled together with ribbon. The 7 page welcome booklets are bound together with brass grommets and include a subtly patterned one piece cover that wraps around the spine of the booklet. What’s inside the booklet you ask? Pretty much a condensed Lonely Planet! They included all the details their guests might have possibly needed for a wedding in this island paradise, right down to a primer in basic Indonesian and a list of all the local hot spots. The entire set is printed on our white paper in a combination of Cream ink and a custom mix of Pantone 618 ink.

Letterpress Wedding Invitations in 1 Color
While we certainly love elaborate 2 or 3 color letterpress wedding invitations, we get really excited to print fabulous designs in one fantastic ink color. Not only is it a budget-friendly letterpress option, but it really adds a special touch to the design. Especially if you’re only planning to incorporate one primary color in your event, or if you’re still debating colors to pair with your favorite shade as you plan, 1-color letterpress wedding invitations are stunning. Both of these customizations feature 2-color designs that have been turned into really lovely 1-color invitations.

This vibrant version of our Dewdrop design is printed in mango. We love how it is both elegant and fun, a bit of a modern edge paired with beautiful hand calligraphy. It’s a little bit unexpected and a whole lot beautiful.

Mimosa is one of our favorite new designs and this custom version, printed in garden ink, is no exception. Printed for an outdoor wedding at a riverfront camp in Texas, this letterpress wedding invitation is the perfect complement to the natural setting of the event.
